Rook against the Sky

A bit of a sultry sky this week. Actually it was a couple of weeks back. I'd been to see my dentist about a broken tooth and when I came out, there was some twenty minutes to spare before my bus home. Most of the market traders were packing up ready to go home after the earlier torrential summer downpour. I took shelter under an empty stall and watched this rook ruling the roost on top of another stall.

You can see a close-up of the rook on my photoblog Sithenah.

But I'm glad I came back or else I would have missed this great roof!

  6. I was immediately taken with the colorful roof, and then concluded that the Rook had found a very lovely perch indeed.

  7. Ha, when I saw the title I thought it would be a chess piece. So a rook is a bird? Aha.
    Fun colors in the roof.

  8. I am now taking a diminishing dose of steroids for my Rheumatoid Arthritis pain and it works. I believe the chemotherapy drug is spelled "Methotrexate" that is used to treat a lot of things from cancer to arthritis will be used next. I just relish in being pain free.

So I am not participating in Sky Watch Friday just because I might not be able to make it around to all.

I enjoyed seeing your blog post for Sky Watch Friday and I thought your photography was excellent. A remarkable photo, Gerald.

I don't know if you like to read or not but if you do this place is amazing.

I just got my first shipment of used books from Strand's bookstore in New York City, day before yesterday and they are in excellent condition.

They have 18 miles of used books. Think about that—18 miles. I had to start out by just choosing a category, like photography, and go from there.

I don't know how in the world they can keep track of so many books.

Look up Strand bookstore or copy and paste the URL here: http://www.strandbooks.com/app/www/p/home/

  20. Nice Sky Watch photo!
I enjoyed seeing Rooks when I visited Enlgand for the Bird fair.

I also like the various colelctive nouns used for them - a building of rooks, a clamour of Rooks & my favourite; a parliament of Rooks, which is very appropriate collective noun over here for slightly different reasons.
