Shadow Shot Sunday:
The Railway at Romiley

Strong shadows on "The Railway" public house which stands next to Romiley Station near Stockport on the line from Sheffield to Manchester.

I like how the furled England flag casts a bird-like shadow. This was taken a few weeks ago before we were dumped out of the World Cup.

For more shadows shots this Sunday visit Hey Harriet.

  1. You are right about the shadow to the right - I see a parrot sitting on a perch in the wall. Not at all like its subject, this shadow is lots of fun!

  2. Oh, this is a fun one, Gerald! I see a parrot, too! What a great one for the day! Have a lovely weekend!

  3. When I first saw the shadow I looked for the bird. Ha! So it's the flag's shadow? Excellent, Gerald!

  4. A delightful 'bird' shadow on your watering hole. Nice steam train too.
Sorry about the football, we got ousted too.

  6. What a great shadow, it does look like a parrot.

  7. Even though it looks like a parrot, it reminds me of Wallace Stevens' poem Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Blackbird. "I don't know which to prefer. The beauty of inflections, or the beauty of innuendos. The blackbird whistling, or just after."

  8. i immediately thought 'bird' too...before reading your post. lovely shadow....

  9. definitely a giant bird! great photos. thanks for sharing.

  10. I really liked the photo of the locomotive on the sign.
