ABC Wednesday:
S is for Stop & Rest in Stalybridge
Stop and Rest is the name of a public house in Stalybridge.
I don't drink so cannot tell you what it is like inside. A lot of pubs in Stalybridge have changed their names in recent years and quite a few (as elsewhere) have closed down. There are plenty left though including both the one with the shortest name and the one the longest name. I have photographed the former but not the latter. That'll have to wait for another day.

Stop and Rest sounds like a wonderful mantra! I think I could like that! It looks quiet, too.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a good motto.

I don't drink either, but some pubs have really good food. Also, many that I have seen have been well looked after--looking sharp and smart.
ReplyDeleteThe Q Inn is next to Stalybridge station of course, but The Old Thirteenth Cheshire Astley Volunteer Riflemen Corps Inn is on Astley Street which is a bit out of the way. I've got a photo of it on Google Earth.
