Capel Tabernacl, Colwyn Bay, North Wales
This is the chapel of the Welsh Baptists, opened in 1888. The first minister was Rev. William Hughes, who had been a missionary in the Congo, and he maintained his connections by educating African children in this country. He established the Congo Institute in the town - see Three Towns Blog for more information.

It conveys a sturdiness in the front facade. Don't ask me why but never thought of Baptists in Wales. I guess where my grandfathers were from Wales and we were not raised in the Baptist church, it never occurred to me. Always thought of Baptists as being primarily from the southern U.S. states. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteLooks a very typical Victorian church that, one that stands out
