Slate Fence at Cwm Penmachno

The fence posts alongside the road to Cwm Penmachno are made from slate

Slate was quarried at Cwm Penmachno from 1819 until 1962.

  1. Hello, what a beautiful rural scene. I like the view of the road and fence, the green hills are lovely. Great photo. Enjoy your day!

  2. Always good to see natural locally available materials in use. By the way, that wonderful building the Welsh National Opera in Cardiff is made only from materials locally available, by that they mean in Wales. The guided tour is worth taking if you are ever in Cardiff, a wonderful city to explore.

  4. A nice rural road with an unique fence. I never seen a slate fence, must be a rarity.
