We went to Skipton last Friday and for the most part the rain kept off while we were there, but it was very cold. I took quite a few photographs and will no doubt post some of them here or elsewhere at some stage.
For now, just this with a one-line haiku to fit in with the "feathered friends" prompt at One Deep Breath
narrowboat passes under the castle wall ducks loiter
This is so concise, brief and yet says it all! Very nice.
ReplyDeletethose ducks are fascinating, will they all jump in the water together?
ReplyDeleteThat haiku reminds me of similar moments in my past. Thanks for the travel.
ReplyDeleteI like the way the structure of the line matches the structure and position of the ducks.
ReplyDeleteGreat visual and the sense of the boat passing behind our backs.
ReplyDeleteI like the loitering ducks. I feel like they should be chatting and drinking coffee like the guys waiting for construction work to start...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo and the haiku describes it so well. I can almost see being in a boat passing by.
ReplyDeleteOh, ho! I left a comment on the hagia you posted at Summer Haiku blogspot saying I'd comment on it here. You fooled me. :-)
ReplyDeleteThis is a different but also really nice haiga. Works very nicely in the oneline form ... reminds me of that expression about getting one's "ducks all in a row."
Loitering ducks creates a mysterious feeling! Your haiku and photo are really, really nice.
ReplyDelete:)
One line is enough to tell the story!
ReplyDeleteDuck do loiter don't they? There is something so hopeful about them, like the next person coming round the corner is the one with the bread.
ReplyDeleteThanks
The lines of words, birds and water work so well together. The ducks look like they will jump at the start gun for a relay!
ReplyDeleteI like the way the words are lined up like the loitering ducks! Lovely photo.
ReplyDeleteBig smile for this. Thought of us watching them watching us!
ReplyDeleteDucks are so adorable... 100 degrees and broiling here--I have been making sure the birds get lots of food and water... They visit in great numbers when it is so unbearable.
ReplyDeleteLove the refreshing ook of this photo, and the ducks all standing there very pleasant.
ReplyDeleteI fixed up a makeshift fountain for the birds here--days and days of sweltering heat, poor things. I've never seen birds just lying around panting before!
"ducks loiter" - brilliant :)
ReplyDeleteSkipton....we passed through here a couple of weeks ago....avoiding the black clouds of York...needless to say the black clouds caught us up! LOL! Fun, on a motorbike!
ReplyDeletePositioning of your poem in the photo is great. I'm envisioning the loitering ducks wavings their webbed feet at the riders on the passing boats.
