ABC Wednesday - R is for Riversvale Drive

Well I didn't decide on my post for this week until the last minute. I considered posting pictures of one of the Remotest Railway stations in Scotland, but you can view my photographs of Rannoch Station by clicking the link (and look at the four that follow). The other consideration was New Zealand again and Rotorua.

Yesterday was sunny and I visited Bardsley Vale, so instead am bringing you fresh pictures from my brief walk along Riversvale Drive.

Once a carriage drive it is now a footpath through the woods to Daisy Nook Country Park.

Autumn is in full swing and there are leaves everywhere.

This last photograph, to which I've applied an "aged newspaper" affect is looking back towards the gate leading onto the A627 road between Oldham and Ashton under Lyne.

More R posts can be seen on the ABC Wednesday Anthology blog.

Others can be found via the ABC Wednesday with Mister Linky which carries a registry of participants.

  2. Nice set of photos!

I'm not at all sure I'd agree that Rannoch Station is all that remote - try Altnabreac Station.

  3. You are right about Altnabreac being remote - I wrote "one of the most" - Corrour is generally considered the most remote.

  4. I took a long hike in the woods on Sunday, where no one had been yet this fall. The trail was covered with leaves like in your pics.

  5. That is JUST the kind of walk I enjoy on a brisk fall day. As long as it isn't raining, all seems right in the world after fresh air and exercise in woodsy areas. :D

  14. Bardley Vale looks like a great place for walking. The second photo down is very much like the path where I start my thrice weekly run/jog in the Vienna Woods.
Apropos what 'richies' says - I like to be the first with my footprints in the snow along the woodland paths. It's forecast for the weekend.

  15. What a lovely pathway! I'd love to stroll along an old carriage drive. Is it all on one estate, or was it a single track path just leading somewhere?

  18. About 3 years ago I went to the remotest pub in Scotland. Had to go there on the mail boat out of Mallaig. Lovely spot. We dropped off some mail to a woman waiting with a sack at the end of a long dark Loch. Our boat carried all sorts of post and about a dozen passengers. I remember there was a barbecue set amongst the various oddments piled in the middle of the deck. Folk must have to do a lot a catalogue and internet shopping in remote areas of Scotland.
