ABC Wednesday - E is for Eddie Stobart

We spotted this Eddie Stobart lorry heading south down the M6 in Cheshire. We were exiting Junction 19 at Tabley for the A556.

Eddie Stobart spotting is a pastime that has taken over from trainspotting. I'm not sure when it first started, and it wasn't until I did a bit of research for this post, that I discovered there is actually a lot more to it than just spying one particular haulier's vehicles on the road.

For many people it isn't just a harmless pastime to wile away a boring motorway journey, but an obsession. If you really want to know more, do some googling and you'll soon discover probably more than you want to know.

This can also be found on the ABC Wednesday no comment blog to which many authors contribute a copy or summary of their ABC Wednesday posts, creating a permanent anthology.

Do contact me privately if you want an invitation to join the anthology.

Otherwise the ABC Wednesday with Mister Linky carries a registry of participants.

  1. I must have missed something when I have been visiting the UK - I never saw one! However, that can be remedied in a couple of weeks.

    Everyone needs a hobby...

  5. They even have a fanclub, I understand. I find, if I'm driving a long journey by myself, that Stobart-spotting keeps me awake.

It's much harder to spot a Norbert Dentressangle - I've only ever seen a couple of them, even though I have a friend who insists they're as ubiquitous as Eddie Stobarts.

  19. I used to work in Corby, Northants, opposite an Eddie Stobbart depot, so I've spotted quite a few of their trucks in my time.

    Good choice for E.

  22. Eddie Stobart spotting is certainly a new one for me. I did a Google search and found a Stobart Members Club web site; you even have to pay membership to join. They certainly take it seriously!

  23. Only when I moved up north, did I discover this obsession of others. Amusing reading the comments of others who are at a loss. I'll bet this is a unique choice today.
