Anyone got a reliable Map?

I found this google map giggle on A View Up the Clyde

Ask Google Maps to get directions from New York to Glasgow and it tells you to swim 3000+ miles across the Atlantic!

At least no-one would seriously try to follow this route in their car.

Not so, the souls who slavishly follow the instructions of satellite navigation systems.

Examples of the predicaments caused include
  • the motorists who drive close to a 100ft cliff near the village of Crackpot
  • drivers attempting to cross a deep ford at Luckington
  • traffic jams in hitherto quiet villages like Barrow Gurney

  1. I love fords on roads like that

that's fords of the watery kind, not Fords of the car kind. . .

    :-)

  3. The satellite system I have on my car also tells me not to obey instructions blindly, but to think a little for myself. People must have been complaining about problems.
But I like to play with the satellite, especially if I'm not in a hurry. It permits me to find new roads and water towers I didn't know before.
