ABC Wednesday - E is for Easter at East Didsbury
On Easter Sunday this year I travelled out to East Didsbury. This flowerbed was the central feature inside the junction of the A34 Kingsway out of Manchester to Wilmslow and the A5145 from Stockport to Chorlton cum Hardy.
The reason for the huge space given to this junction is that originally it was where the trams turned round. All that is left of the old tram depot is this clock tower, preserved by Tesco as a landmark.
Despite the 24 hour sign though, even Tesco is closed on Easter Sunday and the normally busy carpark is Empty.

Nice photos - lovely with all the colour - that wasn't empty :)
ReplyDeleteI love the flowers! So colorful!
ReplyDeleteVery nice photos and the flowers are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThe flowers were lovely on Easter. The colours are so cheerful. And the parking lot looks better than usual too, I'm sure,
ReplyDeleteA splash of brightness on a dull day! I love the name Chorlton cum Hardy. What does 'cum' mean I wonder!
ReplyDeleteE is for empty, as in empty car park. The flower bed is lovely. What happened to the trams that the station was abandoned?
ReplyDeleteNice choice for the letter E..both Easter and empty. Very pretty flowers.
ReplyDeleteLove the bright flowers, - on first sight I thought they might be Easter Eggs...
ReplyDeleteColorful Easter flowers. All the world must love an empty parking lot - they are so rare! :)
ReplyDeleteI wonder, even it is a big circle, how did the train turn. Did it stay in one place then the track turned 360 degree. That was how some old system work.
ReplyDeleteInteresting! I often wonder what these odd little remnants of buildings are from! And when you know there used to be tram tracks you can see how the road layout came to be like that!
ReplyDeleteparticularly like that 1st pic
ReplyDeleteVery creative Es!
ReplyDeleteI do love the empty car park.
Seldom seen here too!

No matter where I look, some things are different, and some the same. An empty parking lot, even on Easter, is a rarity here. But colorful flowers in spring are common, and very welcome!
ReplyDeleteThose gardens are very beautiful! Wonderful E entry this week. I love Easter because it symbolizes new beginnings!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for the tour. All these pictures make me feel so much in England. I have a passion for all things english and some time ago, as I was looking for pictures of England because I was missing it, I found City Daily Photo and began my own blog (Sintra, Glorious Eden). Now I found you and I will return here everyday.
ReplyDeleteWell done.
That's very attractive for a carpark. I'm glad Tesco had the sense to keep the landmark tower.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment!
