ABC Wednesday
C is for Cheadle Bridge

Cheadle Bridge was built in 1861 across the river Mersey connecting Cheadle in Cheshire with Didsbury in Lancashire.

Nowadays both sides are in the modern county of Greater Manchester and the boundary is between the Metropolitan Borough of Stockport and the City of Manchester.

  3. Lovely old bridge and I, too, love the English countryside -- at least from the pictures I have seen. Would love to be able to see it for real someday! Enjoy your week!

  10. Beautiful bridge. I like the details: the plants growing out from between stones. The wear of years.

Yes it is, although a good 40 miles (as the river flows) upstream.

The photos are nice - makes it look like it's in the countryside, but it's actually in the suburbs of Manchester (although there is a very small sheep farm next to it too).

On the bridge is a very old stone sign saying "L|C". The L is Lancashire and the C is Cheshire, with a separating line.
