ABC Wednesday - R is for Roller-skating in Russia

ABC Wednesday - R is for Roller-skating in Russia

We saw this girl on her skates as we approached a junction. Our vehicle turned into the same road and I took this picture as we passed.

R is also for Rolls of Rolled Steel which were lined up on the dock where we berthed in Saint-Petersburg. There were also Rows of excursion buses, as it isn't feasible to visit the city independently. The dock entrance is some three miles away and there is no public transport inside the docks.

To put the skater in perspective, here is a reduced version of the original photograph from which the first one was cropped.

I started a Baltic Cruise blog but what with everything else I've still only completed half of it. You will however find 24 photographs from our first day in Saint-Petersburg on http://www.geraldengland.co.uk/cr2/crp.htm. Eventually I hope to post more.

  2. Great R post. I was in Leningrad as it was called back in 1983. Things look a bit different than when we were there.

  4. That girl needs to start looking where she's going before she ends up having an accident. Interesting photos, I've long wanted to visit Russia. Maybe soon.

  8. I can't balance on skates, so I have not tried it before. It's always nice to watch people skate by. :-)

You are fast to take the shot in the vehicle! You had your camera ready all the time? haha...

  12. My word Gerald, you're widely travelled! It certainly broadens the horizons seeing other cultures on a personal level. Great 'R'.

Roller skates in my day (don't I sound old) were very basic and always in need of oiling! :)

  14. Nice "R"! Love the roller skates. I used to love to do that but now I would be afraid of falling and damaging myself.

  18. I liek the rolls of steel, i could make a great sculpture out of that. I'm a little envious of the rollerskating girl, i've never mastered the technique and my rollerblades laugh at me every time I open the cupboard where they are hidden.

  19. Great action shots. You got a double R's today. Good Job!

By the way, you posted on my blog about BASIC and random number generators. I remember those from school. Thanks for the memories.
