First Photograph

I got my new camera yesterday and this morning took some photographs.

Here is one of the first batch. This is a full-sized crop [if you click on the thumbnail] from an original that is about three times the size. It was a dull day and I was shooting through the window, so although I've not got much detail of the bird I have at least captured the seeds it has taken from the feeder.

The card-reader in my computer wouldn't read the memory card. I suspect this is because it is an SD HC card instead of an ordinary SD card. My old camera took Scan-media cards, so I've never tried to read any other kind of card. It was easy enough though to connect the camera to a USB port and import the photos that way.

I'm not using any of the provided software as, for now at least, Paint Shop Pro does all I require.

  1. The Lumix is getting great reviews Gerald so you've made a good choice. My son has a pocket sized one which takes terrific photo's.

  2. I copied your image and lightened it to get the colours clearer.

Looks like a chaffinch to me - am I right?

    Good shot.

  3. Yep, good choice indeed. And I'd say install the software and explore it - you never know when you might want to give it a whirl....

  5. that looks a serious tele-zoom camera. congratulation, can't wait to see more bird photos from you. Nice fine. I used to be a big olympus fan, I gave my c-3040 away to my brother-in-law in New Zealand and I loved my Olympus when I had the c-3040

  7. Great catch! I guess you enjoy your 18x zoom...I have a 12x, but most times it's too stubborn to focus (I like this explanation better than to admit my incompetence ;-)), so I lose a lot of interesting shots...
