Skywatch Friday: Across the estuaries

Last week I took you to Llandudno.

This week's picture, taken on the way back, is from a coach travelling at 50-60mph down the A55; hence a slight lack of clarity. (click on the picture for a larger view)

The small town in the shelter of the Clywd hills is Holywell. Beyond is the estuary of the river Dee. It was obviously low tide. Off the end of the Wirral peninsular is Hilbre Island. On the other side is the estuary of the river Mersey stretching from Liverpool (just visible on the right) to Formby Point.

Above all of this lies sky.

To see more heavenly sights visit Skywatch Friday.

  1. Gerald: I like to take pictures of beauty from the car. The camera does have to work harder.

  15. This is so picturesque, Gerald. I do enjoy your little geography lessons on the UK. I thought the granite rock last week was great but you have outdone yourself with the mud flats. Such a great view of their expanse and how they are wedged between the deeper water and the green of the land. The village looks to-die-for, especially to someone from my wide brown land.

  32. As I'm the only driver in our house I never get chance to take such beautiful snaps from the car (If I did it'd probably be my last ever photo!) Perhaps I should get on a coach occasionally!

    Great shot of Deeside.

  40. Thank you for your haiku. I wondered if you would ever do that to me. I am still learning and reading wherever I can. The best way I find to improve though is to post a picture a day and try to say something that the picture does not already say. I still have a long way to go to reach this aim. I am enjoying the challenge though. Thank you so much for your comment. It is much appreciated.

  43. What is a sky without a foreground? Looks like nice area - I may have been quite close once. But it was raining...

We had planned to go to Cornwall this year, but had to postpone it. Maybe next year?

PS I like to go to the UK at least once a year - has been to London once and am booked for one more.
